Ron Bunyard
North Texas Area Director
Ron Bunyard and wife Angela are natives of Oklahoma. Ron and Angela have one daughter, Sarah, who is married to Evan Halferty. Ron is a 1995 graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth with a Masters in Christian Education. They both have been involved in ministry for over 30 years. Ron, Angela and Sarah returned from South Korea in 2004 where Ron and Angela served as missionaries for nine years. While in Korea, Ron served as the chaplain and director of Bible teaching and Angela served as the nurse at Taejon Christian International School (TCIS). TCIS is a boarding school that serves the mission and international communities of South Korea and Asia.
Since returning to the U.S. in 2004, Ron has continued to serve in the mission community by serving on staff with International Students Inc. (ISI) as the campus campus director of the University of Texas, Arlington ministry. In 2015, Ron accepted the position of North Texas Area Director. There are 37,000 + international students in the North Texas Area. Ron leads a team of 28 full and part-time ISI staff who lead more than 600 weekly volunteers who serve the students with a focus of making multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ. In North Texas we also partner with 50+ campus ministries and churches to share the love of Christ with international students.
Angela has served as a nurse for more than 30 years in a variety of roles. She currently works as a nurse and diabetes educator in a maternal-fetal medicine office in Arlington. Angela has a passion for teaching and leading Bible studies in a variety of ministry settings. She enjoys spending with our grandsons.
ISI is an evangelical mission that exists to share Christ’s love with international students and to equip them for effective service in cooperation with the local church and others. There are currently nearly one million international students in the U.S.A. ISI has a vision to see every one of them befriended, led to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and discipled for His service. In order for this to happen, the local church must be mobilized for action. Ron has been heavily involved in helping ISI develop a discipleship movement among students called the M:28 Initiative which in the ten years of development has currently impacted nearly 100,000 people worldwide. ISI is one of the most strategic ministries in world evangelism. Franklin Graham, Samaritan Purse International, says of ISI, “Never before in the history of the church has a generation of Christians had a greater opportunity to reach the world than we have in America today…That’s where the ministry of International Students comes in.”
